Nippon Paint Announces Asia Young Designer Award 2017

Nippon Paint (India), Asia’s real no. 1 paint manufacturer, announces Asia Young Designer Award (AYDA) contest for aspiring designers and architects. The contest aims to identify talent among students of Architecture and Interior Design across 15 countries in Asia including India. The theme for this year’s contest is “You for Tomorrow”.

The contest is open to all 4th and 5th year students of Architect and Interior design institutions across the country. The final date for registration and sending in your entry is November 26th, 2017. The shortlisted national winner from the 15 countries will compete for the AYDA 2017 Platinum Award and USD $1,000 cash prize at the Malaysia Learning Programme and Trip in 2018.

Criteria for participation and submission
  • The final date for submission is November 26th, 2017
  • The contest is open to all 4th and 5th year students of Architect and Interior design institutions
  • A maximum of one project can be submitted per student
  • Participants must use the wide range of Nippon colour palette that is available on www.nipponpaint.co.in, for the project.

In its 10th chapter, the Asia Young Designer Award 2017 pays homage to the term ‘future-proof designs’ through its theme – “You for Tomorrow”. The theme aims to challenge the foresight and technical ability of today’s designers to create a design concept that is relevant, meaningful and meets the needs of tomorrow’s dwellers and societies. Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
  • Relevance to theme
  • Presentation board
  • Design concept statement
  • Colour concept
Prizes

The national competitions will take place simultaneously and all AYDA national winners from the 15 countries will get:
1. Rs. 50,000 cash prize
2. Trip to Malaysia Learning Programme in Malaysia
3. An opportunity to compete in AYDA 2017, the Asia-Pacific-level contest.
4. A chance to win the cash prize of USD S1, 000 at AYDA 2017

Jury Panel
The entries will be judged by a jury consisting of eminent personalities chosen from the fields of architecture and interior design. The jury includes – Mr. Ravi Sarangan, Director of Edifice, Mumbai; Mr. Sharukh Mistry, Founder of Mistry Architects, Bengaluru; Mr. Abin Chaudhuri, Founder of Abin Design Studio, Kolkata; Mr. C. N. Raghavendran, MD of CRN, Chennai, and Mr. Ankur Choksi, Founding Principal of Studio Lotus, New Delhi.
