EOS to Showcase its AM Solution Portfolio at Aero India

PR Newswire | 18 Feb, 2015
BANGALORE, India: Between February 18 and 22, 2015 EOS, the global technology and quality leader for high-end Additive Manufacturing (AM) solutions, is showcasing its AM solution portfolio for the aerospace industry at the 10th International Aero Show in Bangalore together with its customer Intech DMLS in hall A, booth A 1.9.

Anand Prakasam, EOS Country Manager for India, states: "The aerospace industry is a key growth market for Additive Manufacturing where cabin interior, engine and turbine parts are typical applications. The EOS technology enables quick, cost-effective manufacturing of functional components with complex geometries and defined aerodynamic properties and permit material and weight savings, lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions." And he adds: "In India we are working with HAL on the development of the 25KN engine. Several parts in their engine are produced on an EOS M280 system using materials like EOS Nickel Alloy IN718, IN625 and EOS Titanium Ti64."

The AM technology allows for lightweight part design and a tool-less production requiring less energy and raw material than conventional manufacturing. As such, it enables maximum flexibility. Modified parts, upgrades and spare parts can be produced as needed, obviating the need for storage. Given the long service lives of airplanes, AM also enables clear cost benefits. Intelligent AM-enabled, lightweight structures combine high strength with a weight reduction of forty to sixty per cent. Achievable material savings translate into more flexibility in design and engineering. As a result, airplanes consume significantly less fuel and emit less carbon dioxide.
