The 116th Canton Fair - China's Biggest Trade Fair

PR Newswire | 24 Dec, 2014

GUANGZHOU, China: An innovative combination of overseas promotion and advertisement, the Canton Fair's Media Resource Exchange Program (MREP) - rolled out at the 115th session earlier this year - is the perfect tool for participants looking to establish lucrative, globe-spanning trade links. Utilizing Canton Fair's influence as China's biggest trade fair, the program has been quite successful.

As of mid-October, 21 chambers of commerce had joined the MREP, as well as multiple companies from around the world. An October 15 award ceremony at the 116th Canton Fair paid tribute to the great achievements of two of those companies.

Mr. Liu Jianjun, Deputy Director General of the China Foreign Trade Centre, presented one award to ORBIT, an Indian travel agency.

"I am delighted be congratulating ORBIT on behalf of the Canton Fair," said Liu. "I hope the ORBIT team will continue their fantastic work, expanding the co-operation that has already been so profitable for all involved."

ORBIT, one of India's leading business travel facilitators, has worked tirelessly to promote the Fair in India. Thanks to its efforts in the run-up to the 116th Canton Fair, ORBIT managed to secure the participation of an astonishing 680 Indian buyers.

"We are confident that we will win MREP first prize in the next Fair," said Col P Shashidharan, ORBIT's public relations director.

Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission of the China Foreign Trade Centre Mr. Ma Chunzhi presented another prize to Mr. Lin Wenguang, President of the Indonesia China Business Council (ICBC).

"I extend my congratulations to Mr. Lin on winning first prize at the 116th Canton Fair MREP program," said Ma. "We sincerely thank the ICBC team for their support."

As the biggest member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Indonesia is an important source of Canton Fair visitors. Working long and hard on behalf of the event, the ICBC has ensured the attendance of many Indonesian enterprises, both as exhibitors and buyers. For the past two years Mr. Lin has organized free promotion of the Fair in various Indonesian print and online publications.

"It is a great honour to be awarded MREP first prize," said the ICBC president. "We will continue to do all we can to support the Canton Fair."
