Sakra World Hospital and Meru Cabs Come Together in Bangalore

BANGALORE: Sakra World Hospital has signed a MoU with Meru Cabs. The novel initiative is to provide basic life support to passengers during medical emergencies while travelling. Sakra World Hospital is organising workshops and training sessions for all cab drivers at Meru in batches of 20. The objective is to provide the best possible paramedical care in case of any unforeseen medical situations while on the road. Each driver will be given first aid training sessions from cardiac, pulmonary, neurology and emergency care departments at Sakra World Hospital. This will help them act as semi-paramedics in case of any medical emergency including accidents or medical situations. The drivers will be performing mock-medical emergency situations in order to have practical experience.

The drivers will be taught immediate actions to be taken in case of a cardiac emergency and other major instances. The plan of action in such a case and the immediate protocol to be followed will be explained in minute detail. After completion of the course, the drivers shall be given a Sakra certification. Meru cabs will be carrying emergency numbers.

Following are some of customised value added services designed for Meru Cabs by Sakra

    LIFE (Lifestyle Initiative For Everyone) program, wherein specialists share their knowledge in preventive medicine for a healthy living.
    Basic life support (BLS) and CPR training program for handling basic emergencies at home and work.
    Basic evaluation free health camps for drivers.
    Health check-up programmes at discounted rates for Meru employees.

All drivers trained in BLS/CPR will have a certificate displayed in their vehicle.

Sakra World Hospital had organised the 1st batch of the Basic Life Support program for Meru Cab drivers on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 3 to 5 pm. About 15 drivers, Dr.Sreekanth B Shetty, Cardiology department, Dr. Prabhakar Reddy's team, ER department from nursing department, Sister Pushpa and her team participated in this event.
