UBM Launches Mumbai's Debut Gems & Jewellery Fair to Great Acclaim

MUMBAI, India: Leading event organiser UBM India are celebrating a successful launch of their latest Jewellery event, The Mumbai Jewellery and Gems Fair (MJGF), which took place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. The exhibition and conference brought together 4,887 high quality buyers and sellers.

Sanjeev Khaira, MD UBM India, said: "The Mumbai version of the Jewellery & Gems Fair was a big success. The feedback received from exhibitors, manufacturers and associations was overwhelmingly positive. We have announced next year's dates as 6-8 January 2013, and we can't wait to oversee the growth and development of this fantastic launch show."

 The exhibition was spread over three days from 9th to 11th December and saw 4,887attendees, which comprised primarily of retailers wanting to increase their business potential and expertise by meeting the more than 280 exhibitors present. It was also a great opportunity to gather knowledge on the international market at the various international pavilions from countries such as Belgium, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Sri Lanka & Thailand.

The CEO of Mumbai Wholesale Gold Jewelers Association, Mr. Mahavirji Lodha, said: "It was an absolute delight to extend our support to this magnificent event which brings the industry, the key players and the future of this industry together. A platform of this sheer size and scale is hard to come across in India."

Selected quotes from the event showed exhibitor enthusiasm was already building for the next event, which due to venue availability will take place a month later than scheduled, in January 2013.

Sirachai Panichyanont, Gold Mongkon Mahakit Co Ltd, Thailand,  said: "As far as buyers are concerned, the response was good. The business prospects in Mumbai are immense. We will be participating in Chennai & Hyderabad editions, and are looking to MJGF 2013 in a big way."

Chris Casey, Vice President -Nielsen Jewellery Group, New York,  said:"Couture is known as 'The finest in global designs'. We have brought Couture to India in the best possible way. For the next edition of MGJF in 2013, we will be introducing several international brands. We are looking forward to making it one of the biggest platforms to showcase our brands.
