Hughes Named 2011 Best VSAT Operator in India

PR Newswire | 19 Apr, 2011

GERMANTOWN, Md.: Hughes Communications India Ltd. (HCIL), India's leading provider of broadband satellite networks and services, was recognized as the Best VSAT Operator in India at the Telecom Operator Awards ceremony held on 21st March 2011 at the Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, India. Shyamal Ghosh, former secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Chairman, Telecom Commission and former administrator of the USO Fund, presented the award to Partho Banerjee, president and managing director of HCIL. The award recognizes companies that demonstrate outstanding performance in delivering world-class results in service and support in the telecom sector.

Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Banerjee said, "Receiving this prestigious award is a testament to our commitment to provide the most reliable and beneficial satellite service offerings and continually improve the customer's experience. We thank the organizers and our customers for recognizing us amongst our worthy peers."

The prestigious Telecom Operators Award was hosted by Tele.net magazine, whose editor, Shampa Bahadur, stated, "Acknowledging the leadership role played by telecom companies in different segments, the winners in 14 categories were chosen through an extensive survey conducted during the past two months among a carefully selected group of industry professionals, sector experts, and key consumers. This enabled the selection process to be fair, transparent, and conclusive, especially since every nominee has played a significant role in the country's telecom growth story. Hughes Communications India emerged the winner by a wide margin, winning twice as many votes as its peers."
