Aiming to provide the relevant knowledge about foreign trade to the small and medium exports, Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) and Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida, jointly announced the commencement of a new Six month Diploma course in Foreign Trade.
According to FIEO statement, the course was inaugurated on August 4, in New Delhi with the lamp lighting ceremony by Dr. Anup K. Pujari, IAS, DGFT, Government of India.
The Diploma in Foreign Trade course will be a great addition to the skill level of attendees in terms of entering into foreign trade as well as, a curricular essentiality for the students who wish to pursue a career in the field of foreign trade.
Ajay Sahai, Director General and CEO, FIEO in his address mentioned that the course has been conceptualised keeping in view the future growth of India's foreign trade and manpower requirement and it received an overwhelming response.
Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH in his welcome address explained that when a course is offered with the industry practitioners it provides a more comprehensive and practical knowledge of the course. J. K. Jain, Vice-President, FIEO emphasized on the Indian export's growth story and serious shortage of skilled manpower in foreign trade practices in the coming future.
He mentioned that the role of MSME's is very crucial in the growth of foreign trade in India and thus this course aims at providing the relevant knowledge to the budding entrepreneurs and representatives from small and medium scale export houses.
Dr. Anuj Sharma, Program Director, DFT, explained about the course in a more detailed manner and apart from the various pedagogical and academic laurels, he explained about the differentiating factors of this course on the international trade one of which is a 3 week industry project which every participant has to undergo and produce a report analysing one or more important issues of the foreign trade.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Anup K Pujari, IAS, Director General, Foreign Trade emphasized on ethics, sustainability and inclusiveness required in the business. He explained that the business and for that matter even foreign trade needs to be done in a very ethical manner.
He mentioned that it is very difficult to make other's understand what ethics is, as it is a personal choice and something which seems wrong for one person may be right for the other. He also emphasized on a sustainable practice of business as it is an ongoing entity in itself.
FIEO has been serving as a platform for promoting India's trade with the World and also has been serving as a platform of interaction between exporters and policy makers. On the other hand BIMTECH, established in 1988, provides a highly conducive academic environment through interaction with hard working and industry-academia mix professors, proximity to the industry practitioners and a ready profile of strong alumni base spread throughout the world.

FIEO and BIMTECH would result in knowledge enrichment and better
understanding of the foreign trade issues among the Indian professionals
and young students, the statement said.
