The Government last week came out with the mid-term review of India's Foreign Trade Policy (FTP). Originally slated for issue earlier in July, the policy came a bit late, but it came with good news. First, the good news. India’s Growth Domestic Product (GDP) grew 6.3 percent during the second quarter of 2017-18, from 5.7 percent reported during the first quarter. Data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows the GDP for Q2 standing at Rs 31.66 lakh crore.

News reports have surfaced that the Centre is considering a stimulus package in the range of Rs 40,000-50,000 crore to halt the ongoing growth slowdown.
