The election results are declared and the verdict is clear. The people of India want change, they want stability and growth, they want a responsive government and a strong leader to lead the country, they are looking for an economic savior who can bring the economy back to growth path. These desires are so strong that they have demolished caste and community barriers and helped BJP thunder to an extraordinary victory. We can read a lot of good things into the 2014 Lok Sabha election verdict.

It is the first time in 30 years that any single party has been able to get a majority in the lower house. The Modi wave has destroyed the myth of coalition politics and it is, needless to say, a very welcome development. In the last few years, we have seen how the compromises involved with running a coalition government can lead to policy paralysis and its catastrophic economic consequences. But this time the mandate is clear and the next government will have a free hand to take policy decisions, without worrying about any unruly allies.

Mr. Modi was the CM of Gujarat for over 12 years and during his regime the state witnessed unprecedented economic development. The economy registered a growth of nearly 10% and the CM played an instrumental role in this growth story, making the state business-friendly by strengthening infrastructure facilities, enhancing bureaucratic efficiency and thus pushing rapid industrialization and attracting massive investments. Some skeptics has raised doubt about effectiveness of the "Gujarat model", but I think few will disagree on Modi's abilities to push economic growth.

The Indian industry seems to be no less eager to embrace the would be Prime Minister. His brilliant track record and reputation of being a pro-business leader have fueled widespread expectations that the economy will benefit in a big way from his hands on leadership. The economy is in the doldrums and the industry is pinning their hopes on Mr Modi for industrial growth, investment, infrastructural development, and manufacturing revival. It is not going to be an easy task for the next PM but I hope he would come up to our expectations.

I invite your opinions.

Total growth shall be his goal
KP Janardhan | Wed Jun 4 19:05:25 2014
In your article all along you were talking of industrial growth, it shall be an all round growth. The poorest of the poor also should get the benefit. Farmers interest shall be protected, they are the backbone of this country. Infrastructure developments should start from every village. The benefits of lights/road and buildings should reach all. Above all we people have a duty to protect the protector. PM's life is in danger, Mr. Munde's death is only an indicator. He should be given international status protection to deliver all the goods he promised, including uniform civil code/scrapping of article 370, and re-naming India as Hindustan! JAIHIND

Good article; religion out of election
Dinesh Vijapurkar | Fri May 30 08:37:41 2014
Good article For once we as a nation kept caste and religion bases out of election in as much as the parties like Congress , SP, BSP, Lalu Yadav Party tried their best calling themselves (Secular _ A misnomer politics of appeasement ) while the so called "Communal party" BJP has made a strong point. Economic development and welfare of people understands no caste/ creed/ Religion and colour) Hope the religion / caste / creed politics is buried deep down so that it never raises its ugly head again

Reg - efficiency of Mr Modi
Arvind mahajan | Thu May 29 11:27:16 2014
Why do we feel that it not easy tasks for Mr Modi to go for all the developments. There are all systems in our country , there is need to pursue it properly, secondly the government is in full majority therefore it's not should be so difficult situation. Further we must not lose hope.

Skeptics are bound to be there but I am 100% sure that Modiji will vanquish them.I personally feel that Modiji will continue as Prime Minister for n number of years. His first step to unearth black money if successful can by itself rebuild India and create such an infrastructure which will be envious.May God bless Modiji with long life, good health and success in all his future plans.

Fred | Sun May 25 18:18:42 2014
No one can predict what India & (Modi's gov.) can & will do, but YES it will surely make a difference to us Indians. No single human being can achieve glory if not for his supporters, be it in kind, cash, moral or arm twisters.

Peace & Prosperity: INDIA WINS
ABUBUCKER SIDDIQ | Sat May 24 12:00:43 2014
YES.There is Hope for betterment of the Economy & promising returns with Mr. Modi's determination to achieve this Goal, and expectation of the Millions in India & Abroad. Economy is ONE side while SOCIETY is the other of the same Coin. There is an Open Secret for a leader's success. Ours is a religious-sensitive Nation. Mr. Modi and the Ruling Party only need to sincerely attend to the needs and welfare of the Minorities, esp. Muslims & Christians, in India to retain the New Chair for at least One more TERM, if not for Decades to come. His new popularity & position as the Prime Minister of the World's largest Democracy, calls for a more generous & magnanimous outlook than a conservative party outline. With no opposition to distract or detract, as in the past, the Ruling Party has no rooms to complain. But all the faculties to progress & succeed. Invitation of the SAARC is one good layout for the road to success. Keep it up. Congrats & sincere wishes for his success in the new endeavour. We hope the PM & his Party will take necessary bold steps to maintain a United India - Brothers & Sisters - United we stand. Divided we fall. With due respect for all Faiths & Castes, we are a Museum of People, the Continent of varieties - the Colours of ONE NATION - Long Live India. May Peace & Prosperity prevail. May the World take INDIA a model for Unity, Brilliance and the most covetous place to live.May India take the lead for HAPPY HUMANITY world-over.INDIA WINS A Dreaming Indian.

What about common men
S Ash | Sat May 24 09:47:19 2014
Respected Sir , Mr Modi will definitely satisfy the hopes of Industry for industrial growth, investment, infrastructural development etc. But what about the common men's needs , is under burden of the price hike in all necessities of life. What about Farmers ? facilities for them? Do we r giving importance to Agriculture in India? Organic farming further ?.... Will Modi will able to do that, mainly reduction in price for food grains to cloths, living cost etc. The common people voted him to satisfy their basic cost...... will they satisfy?

Opinion
Sandeep Jha | Sat May 24 08:33:25 2014
Congratulations to all Mr. Modi and all the people directly or indirectly associated with the campaign....... I would like to say if any country wants to suceess then the base has to be very strong and the Indian base currently is the youth...They are not finding themselves fit into companies which is looking skilled or highly skilled workforce..How to give them skilled workforce when our Industry - Institutional linkage is not getting enough momentum. The course curriculum is poor in this firing atmosphere as the people who doesn't know business and engineering is teaching or tutting the student who want to be masters into that.....The expectation of peoples are gaining day by day....for that we need to take a steps to strengthen the academic culture in India and we have to move from traditional approach to advanced approach. Secondly :- The financing structure is so poor or very stringent that due to which the people who want to do business even cannot dare to think off it (this is my Personal research)

Absolutely right
K. Sathyanarayan | Sat May 24 07:19:16 2014
Absolutely right. It shows the strength of Indian democracy and the dreams and aspirations of the young Indian. Hope this will be a sociological change also about caste and religion and spur nationalism, veer away from regionalism. If we can use our waterways for transportation of essential and minerals through barges, that will decrease the inflation. Privatization of monolithic public sector units will benefit the public and economy. If this Govt. can bring a change in the work culture in India with more accountability, that would be an added benefit.

Modi's victory brings cheers to all
SPA MANIVANNAN | Thu May 22 16:10:04 2014
I think this new regime will glow all peoples to encourage a successful life , cost of living will be reduced, average citizen should have a smiley look, especially petroleum products should say a nod to , all education system should be modified and say no to illiteracy. Stock markets are bearish over a decade this should be entirely changed to bullish in future so that investment in banking sector will give hope. Money inflation is a big problem for a democratic country, that should be cleared by RBI. I think Modi's victory will give a big reputation to build a model India.

Help farmers
EASWARI | Thu May 22 16:07:14 2014
Wish Mr. Modi supports farmers and help them to fix price of the products from the field by the farmers themselves. No farmer die or suicide.

Modi the Savior
Shantnu Tiwarit | Thu May 22 06:13:34 2014
There were many factors for BJP to have a thumping win this time. One the most important factor was the weak leadership of the opponent parties. N Modi came out as the best possible choice, though there is are groups who are very skeptical about this leadership. The victory is being mixed up and projected as 'victory of Hindus' and is very bad. Any way the past record as projected by media (to many who do not belong to Gujarat), has given hope and the share market sudden growth is one of the result. BJP has many challenges and all the moves are to be well thought and well planned. The neighboring countries are equally worried and are waiting for the moves of this newly formed government. In fact the entire world in watching. BJP under Modi's leadership should plan meticulously, keeping in mind all the pros and cons. The promises made has to be fulfilled unlike Kejriwal. This is a golden opportunity for BJP to prove its worth and strengthen the party at this point of time. This is very important as there is good probability that while resolving the burning issues, the party men may get neglected and the synergy will get affected resulting into failures. The lesson learnt by Modi at Gujarat should also be considered while taking any decision else there will be chaos all over and the opponent will get a chance to challenge the working of the government. It is like test match where you have to play for a long time and also score very high, work as a dedicated team. Shantanu Tiwari

Indian Economy
A K Awasthi | Thu May 22 03:46:33 2014
Thinking of economy without strengthening social character may be counter productive. What Gandhiji envisaged that economic development along educational revolution and connecting economy with it that will reshape the whole personality of the student will be a real sustenance and stabilise not only economic growth but also social culture responsibility and dedication to the national cause.

Modi Expectations
Nisha Koiri | Thu May 22 03:15:43 2014
Definitely a huge Cheer to our would be PM Mr. Narendra Modi. The point to be noted is that he's the only PM who has declared himself as Mazdoor No. 1. Let's join Majdoor No.1 and make India World's No.1! The fragrance of our sweat will yield gardens of prosperity and peace in our beloved Motherland. Democracy is not Narendra Modi. Democracy is of the people, by the people, for the people. Without the people, even NaMo can't. Our responsibility is not over because we voted him to power. Our responsibility has begun now. We have complained for decades that we don't have an able leader. Today we have an ideal leader. Let us now be ideal players. For next 5 years, if NaMo, you and I keep the hard work going, India will be unstoppable.

Mr.Modi
s.purushothaman | Wed May 21 23:59:11 2014

Good selection for india [modi]
Bharathi | Wed May 21 20:54:41 2014
Modi would do much better (to people of India) than previous Govt. He has to prove that he is an able person than any other previous leaders. Economy of an individual family must be kept in mind and Modi must put an end burdening the people of India from increasing the cost of goods which common people use in the family. I fully [100%] believe that he would do something good to the middle class and below middle class people of India.

Gujarat's growth - account of an eyewitness
Vijay Pathak | Wed May 21 13:37:39 2014
I am from Mumbai but living in Surat, Gujarat for more than 2 decades. In spite of few deficiencies in Gujarat, the state is really prospering and all the credit goes to Mr Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister. Where ever there is an industrial growth, there will be prosperity. This is best understood by him. It is said that when you go up, the number of enemies start increasing. But this has not happened with Mr Modi. With his charisma and positive attitude, he has created a hallow around him. People follow Mahatma Gandhi hypnotically during freedom movement, just like that, people are following Mr Modi with a hope of re-structuring of the nation for a betterment. And I am sure, with no opposition (even with opposition), Mr Modi will take the nation to a high and make it among the first 5 powerful nations.

Modi's victory fuels hopes
S.R.Rama Subbaiah | Wed May 21 12:17:51 2014
It is the good fortune of India now that Narendra Modi, who is level-headed, far-sighted & passionate about our progress, has emerged as India's unchallenged leader with no scope for wasting time on any reconciling or manipulative politics. The dawn of vibrant India has begun.

Empolyment generation
Dharanidharan | Wed May 21 11:16:03 2014
We are always in international trade deficit if we explore and use our internal resource we can avoid expenditure on precious foreign currency beside employment generation and economic development foreign currency can be used only in necessary areas. Import and export of internal resources banned can save foreign currency beside we can get our needs at lower price than international price reduce the cost.

People Victory through Modiji
Ravindra | Wed May 21 09:47:36 2014
The people of India wanted the change, need an able government and talented PM,it is not the question of the parties but as an individual and proven track record, every one felt Modiji is the best person to handle the drowning situation in India, he is the right person, able Minister very much needed now.He should be given free hands not only to choose his minister but also to extract the work from them, he should also make more reformations quickly and make changes in the government policy and constitutional law on immediate effect. The asset of all individual minister has to be declared now and monitored every year. Any Scam/deviation from any minister has to taken stern action. The progress of this government has to be projected as an progress report every year to the public, else people will not know what has done over the period, there will always be opposition but not to heed to all these hindrance. The decorum should be maintained in the parliament alike the way it was going all these years,it is shameful to see the ministers and the parliament members going out of control. The people of India is with him we wanted to compete the world. He should also focus on the basic amenities for the common man. If the performance is good , i am sure this government will keep continuing for decades. i would like our PM to tour India and check on the progress on each city, this is the only chance India can see growth. I wish our Modiji's government the best of luck.

Excellent growth ahead
Tek Bahadur singh | Wed May 21 08:43:27 2014
This is absolutely correct, everyone is looking towards Mr.Modi. I am personlly very confident about good days are coming. We have seen Gujarat Growth if same growth is seen everywhere in India I think India can beat rest of the world. We as business person are looking better working environment, lesser rate of interest, less govt.interference, in fact India should copy china model as far as policy towards businesses. I am sure that Modiji will address all these issues very effectively and very soon. I wish him all the best.

PM Elect > Mr. Modi
Prashit Kapadia | Wed May 21 07:47:34 2014
Mr. Modi has been clear in conveying his dreams and working to achieve them. Further, he has conveyed that the change is ONLY possible if WE ALL put in a collective effort. ONLY dreaming can never realise / fructify without requisite action.

Modi's Victory Fuels Hope
Utamdev Calchand | Wed May 21 07:36:28 2014
Hope Modi maintains what he has promised the nation. A difficult task and he has no reason not to achieve this task. India has to ground itself in the region as another strong performer.

Modi's Victory Fuels Hope
Bhupendra Madhiwalla | Wed May 21 06:36:48 2014
I am a common man leaving in Mumbai hence I do not have all the information. 1. Vibrant Gujarat signed MOUs worth billions of dollars. One year it was almost equal to GDP of India. Has this investment really come or even part of it? If yes, our Foreign Exchange Reserves should have been much healthy. I do not know. 2. Since 11 years I am doing rural development work in Dist. Raigad of Maharashtra and therefore I visited few villages of Gujarat and Saurashtra which have received State awards for great development. I was shocked to see the reality which made me cry! 3. Narmada Sarovar was to solve all problems of water in Gujarat and Saurashtra. My relatives in Rajkot and Junaghad, at least, depend on tanker water! 4. Sabarmati Front is a joke on public when compared to morphed images received in e-mails. Can good publicity change the reality or genuine work? 5. Social development indices have been questioned by many so I would not say anything. 6. It is said that Congress suffered defeat from lack of communication (whom are they fooling?). What have they had to brag about mess and problems created by poor implementation of RTE, MGREGA, Adhar (Niradhar!) Cards, deaths of whistle-blowers, inflation (esp.food) etc.

Elections 2014
A Supanekar | Wed May 21 05:33:31 2014
Equally or even more welcoming fact is that conceits running SECULARITY INDUSTRY have been shown their place. Minority (Muslims) have realized that they were used by so called secular parties by creating fear psychosis. But they are eager to join mainstream and work for development. In UP in seven constituencies where Muslim population is more than 40 pc, BJP candidates have won.

MODI A WORLD CLASS LEADER
T R Kaliyamardhanan | Wed May 21 05:12:02 2014
I congratulate Mr. Narendra Modi on his victory. Now Indian population shown their unhappiness with every Government who ruled India till today 2014. This itself is clear message to the world that we Indian citizen totally looted by our own government. Now time has come for freedom, happiness, good luck for all of us. God Saved us form everyone now and we are sure that Mr. Modi will prove them who is he and what is he. MAY GOD BLESS HIM FOR HIS FUTURE ASSIGNMENT. This is like an Independence for every Indian. May be this is 2nd Independence for all of us. We all Indian need safe, strong, growth oriented Government without any communal or political angle. Everyone tried their level best to stop the TIGER OF INDIA to power due to their corruption and criminal mentality towards public. They were enjoying with our money and now onwards counting their own day of action ahead. It has to be punished. 2014 end itself India can shows who are Indians and what is India and its culture and what is leadership that can take India into World's number one position which only Mr. Modi can do and non others. The real fact is since last one week every Indian feels that India Won, Narendra Modi won and we are in safe hands. "Waiting for the Historic Ceremony on 27th May 2014 and the world is waiting to Watch the Historic Start up of a New Era" Thanks for every Indians who took challenge to put Mr. Modi into this High Post through their valuable vote"

India can prosper only in a balanced, inclusive and socially just development model
Jos Conil | Wed May 21 04:30:19 2014
Modi's enviable victory is a sign of change in public perception. It is certain that Modi can bring in great infrastructural & industrial & agricultural development, but his track record in environmental conservation, social justice & secularism is not bright. India is not Gujarat, nor is it another China. An extremely diverse democracy like India can prosper only in a development model in which economic development goes hand in hand with social justice, secularism and environmental harmony. Let us hope and pray that Modi lives up to his own promise of a "government for the poor and by the poor" which he made in the BJP session in Parliament yesterday (20-5-2014)

India's transformation
Venky - Singapore | Wed May 21 01:11:45 2014
I am extremely happy as NRI that a clean & very deserve leader and party taking India. We want to see our country is 100 times better than any other on this planet. The great culture, intellectuals, honesty, dedication, bonding, natural resources, great history, great historical places and so on...... can be a simple fundamentals to make India superpower, In my opinion, Sri Narendra is just like our great God and his optimism, positive energy, a great sense of mother Indian, a great patriotism is good enough to transform millions of Indians perception and hopes. We have almost more than 50% population having less than 30 years age and this is the greatest strength of our country. Just focus on "one India, One Policy, One religion, One language, One Country" Just focus on corruption free policy and developments Focus to provide equality to all Focus to provide basic infrastructure - roads, electricity, education, Good governance. Absolute honesty at government includes ministers, MPs, IAS, IPS and other channels and this automatically brings good faith, perception at ground level. Transformation is only possible if government is sincere and it has to be top down approach. NM has 1000 times better qualities to be as our hope PM and likewise he has to take "one India policy aggressively across India at all cause at all cost" Need determination, strong decisions, dedicated team work, absolute zero tolerance for deviation and corruption !

Modi's victory
Plain Truth | Tue May 20 23:53:21 2014
There is no doubt that Modi has fuelled economic growth in Gujarat. But then probably Chandrababu Naidu was even more efficient than Modi and in more ways than one. For one, Naidu's term was not rife with communal riots and bloodshed. Behind the shine of Modi lies deep rooted communal tendencies that could see, probably after showing himself as the saviour of the nation, sparks fly and embers light fires of communal violence. He is part of the mob that caused the Ayodha blunder and he and his crew are proud of what they did. That is his DNA; anti everything that is RSS. This is not the philosophy of the Gita or any of the Hindu scriptures. I can see India growing rapidly economically in the short term but fear for disunity when the RSS shows its ugly head.

GREAT LEADER
MUHAMMAD QASIM FAZAL | Tue May 20 22:29:05 2014
I belongs to Surat (Gujarat) now residing in japan for last 40 years. After many decades, we have a great leader 'Modi' now the nation will progress to its height. No doubt India is a golden bird and she needs the honest, sincere and courageous leader. I wish all the best to ' Sir Modi '

Modis victory: suggesstions
Ramesh Nageswaran | Tue May 20 17:22:17 2014
Sitting here as a US NRI and closely following the strategic policies I have the following comments 1) Narendra Modi's economic experience in Gujarat is excellent. However he still has to fundamentally overcome the perceived and perhaps real religious biases he has demonstrated in Gujarat. Without some significant gestures from his side starting with one or two Muslim cabinet ministers his credibility as a reformer will be affected. The caste and community barriers that he has temporarily erased will come back to haunt him if he does not act in a positive note 2) He must ensure that corruption is his major priority by having independent tribunals investigate complaints and take appropriate judicial action in a timely manner 3) Initiate the process for social change , treatment and respect for women, education all across India on this issue and simultaneously follow up with accountability and strong punishment for these type of actions. 3) primary education , technical schools and expansion of opportunity in these areas based on national standards is essential to further economic growth and provide the skills India needs but is running short of 4) I am quite confident that his economic agenda will be a progressive approach as Gujarat is a model state.

Too early to blame to early to praise
NOUSHAD | Tue May 20 16:05:00 2014
A lot of thing Modi has to deliver. Its too early to judge him and being an Indian we always dream especially before an election...... and again we are dreaming. Modi has told many of thing which is of course not impossible but too difficult. Media and Advertisement has created a lot of base and support for Modi especially among the people who was fade up with Congress style of governing. RSS also play a lot of things at organisation level to gain public support. BJP strategically pushing hardcore hindutwa agenda with development. Many has objection to hardcore hindutwa for them they show the result if BJP wouldn't come in power then congress only will form government and you would continue in same situation for next five year. Congress was aware that it would be impossible to win election with majority and coalition government was not his own choice too so it played a safe gain to become a responsible opposition. Such step of Congress showing that they lack of power and zeal to rule so people opting other alternative rather than Congress. I respect BJP but I too support a responsible strong Opposition so that it would compel ruling party in vigilant statge but this election was a disappointment one. During and After winning election many of hardcore Hindu has raised various controversial slogan and massage on social network against minority. We Indian want a united, safe and peaceful India not a India where there are a boundary between minority and majority class.
