Without doubt, B2B portals today offer many opportunities for SMEs to grow and prosper. B2B portals are about networking businesses, introducing collaborative business practices and streamlining business processes. These portals are about collaborative, scalable software and environment and services for the smaller companies, including promotion of the country's economy. I strongly believe that the success of Indian SMEs lies in their ability to harness the potential B2B portals offer and their ability to leverage the development process.

B2B portals have played a major role, as a level playing field to one and all, who can creatively use them to reach the distant areas of the globe and today these portals are fast becoming a way of doing business for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). These portals facilitate in establishing new trading relationships between companies in addition to supporting the existing relationships.

Termed as an e-market place, B2B portals are low cost electronic medium that help in reaching out one's products or services to the target markets. It is very easy to operate as all that it needs is a web browser, an internet connection and add business listing to start benefiting from these market places.

The membership fee which is the only investment SMEs have to make to promote their products in B2B portals, is also nominal in most cases. Thus B2B portals have enabled SMEs to reach target customers for exports and imports.
