The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Techmart India 2011 got underway on Tuesday at the IITF, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, showcasing low cost technologies for setting up Micro & Small Enterprises.

Around 200 exhibitors from all over the country  and five participants from South Africa have also participated in the fair. 30 foreign delegations from African countries are also visiting this year.

After inaugurating the fair, the Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Virbhadra Singh, said, “If you see all the stalls, then you will feel the work that ministry is doing, how much it is helping to the growth of the economy and also in creating jobs in the country.”

The products showcased both in Techmart 2011 and others are unique, he added.

This year ‘Techmart India 2011’ objective is to exhibit the capabilities and export potential of Indian MSMEs. It is a platform through which MSMEs can discover new market opportunities and technologies through organized meetings with potential buyers and suppliers from India and abroad.

The fair will also facilitate to forge closer linkages and networking amongst MSMEs through exchange and sharing experiences as well as know-how on best business practices & strategies.

The exhibition is divided into several segments like light engineering, mechanical products, electrical & electronics, institution, leather products, auto components, information technology, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, machine and machine tools.

The Minister also inaugurated the PMEGP Expo in the IITF, which was organized to provide marketing platform to the micro enterprises under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

In the PMEGP expo, 164 stalls have being set up who showcased wide range of products such as herbal stuff; organic spices; honey; hand made paper; paper machine products; leather range; cane and bamboo items; pottery; Khadi readymade and fabric; handicraft; jute bags and artificial jewellery.

Singh also inaugurated the MSME Expo 2011 at the same venue.
