Targeting a business of about Rs 5,000 crore in next 10 years by Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state, the Orissa government is attracting the MSMEs to take the advantage of growth.

The MSMEs are getting the trade benefits of participating in the five-day long MSME International Trade Fair 2011, being organised by National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) in association with Govt. of Orissa, begins on 5th March at Bhubaneswar.

Targeting a business of about Rs 5,000 crore in next 10 years by MSMEs in the state, industries secretary T Ramachandru told media, "With large investments pouring into the state in steel, aluminium, cement, power and port sectors, Orissa was optimistic about a bright future in the MSME sector."

"If all the MoUs are implemented in the state, about Rs 6 lakh crore will be invested in the state. Therefore, these industries will undertake a business of above Rs 50,000 crore per annum. We hope the MSME will get a share from the huge transaction to be made in coming days," he added.

Under the MSME International Trade Fair 2011 - Seminar-cum-Workshops were organized on various issues and prospects like Scope for MSME in Tourism sector, Port based industries & Development of hinterland, Opportunities in Rice Milling & Food Processing sector, Scope & Development of Non-conventional Energy etc, during the previous days of the fair.

The trade fair was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Orrisa, Naveen Patnaik on 5th March in the presence of Dr. H P Kumar, CMD, NSIC and other dignitaries.

"MSME from across the country are participating in the exhibition to show case their products," informed Ramachandru.
