Dictionary.com Joins With Internet.org For App Launch In India

OAKLAND, Calif.: Dictionary.com, the online and mobile resource for everything word related, today announced it is an official launch partner of the Facebook-led Internet.org initiative in India, which brings affordable internet services to people who are not yet connected via the Internet.org mobile app. Through the app, Reliance customers in India will now be able to use a range of services and websites including the site's dictionary and translation services without incurring data charges.

"Now we're able to bring words to life for millions of people who couldn't afford access to these basic building blocks of literacy, empowering them through our definitions, pronunciations, example sentences and translation services."

Dictionary.com services include access to millions of English definitions, spellings, audio pronunciations, sample sentences, and word origins. With the free translation services, users have the ability to communicate in 45 languages.

Internet.org, a Facebook-led initiative with the goal of making affordable internet access available to the two-thirds of the world's population who are not yet connected, bringing them the same opportunities that the connected world experiences today. Internet.org can be accessed via the Internet.org app in the Google Play Store or by visiting www.internet.org on a mobile browser from a smartphone or feature phone.
