Two-wheeler vehicles major Hero MotoCorp (HMC) Thursday said its sales grew 8 percent in calendar year 2014 compared to 2013 with the Navratra festival seeing sales of more than ten lakh units across markets.

"The company sold record 66,45,787 units of two-wheelers in the period January-December 2014, translating into a growth of 8 percent over the previous calendar year (2013) when the company had sold 61,83,849 two-wheeler units," the company said in a statement.

Cumulative sales till Dec 30 in the 2015 fiscal rose to 50,56,325 units. The company had sold 46,56,498 units in the corresponding period in the last fiscal.

The second round of surge in sales for HMC came in May last year when the company sold 602,483 units which is the highest non-festive season sale.

According the the company, in December last year, it reported sales with 5,26,097 units comparable to the sales figure of 5,24,990 units in the corresponding month last year.

The company last year had opened two new plants in Neemrana (Rajasthan) and forayed globally into the markets in Turkey, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Congo, Mozambique, Angola, Ethiopia and Colombia.

It had also ventured into a wholly owned subsidiary in Colombia and a joint-vneture with Nitol Niloy Group in Bangladesh.
