The Haryana government Sunday announced that it has formulated a policy to regularise existing industrial units within the controlled areas of the state.

The policy has been adopted as the government was receiving representations from various industrial associations for regularising the industrial units which have come up within the controlled areas over the years, a town and country planning department spokesman said.

The industrial units were set up without taking any permission under the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Un-regulated Development, Act, 1963, which is applicable in Haryana, from the competent authority.

In certain cases, the department initiated action, including criminal proceedings, in accordance with the provisions of the act.

"The government examined this issue and it was of the opinion that removal of these unauthorisedly constructed industrial buildings would not only adversely affect the livelihood of the owners and their employees and workers, but would also have serious negative impact on the industrial economy of the state," the spokesman added.

Therefore, the government has decided to provide an opportunity to these industrial units existing within the controlled areas in the state to seek regularization for which a procedure has been approved, he added.

Owners have been given three months to submit their applications to the concerned authority in their area for regularization.
