In order to take on new competition, India's second largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motor India plans to expand its distribution network and also launch a new small car and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) Santa Fe this year.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a new dealership here, managing director Hang Woo Park said Monday: "We will launch Santa Fe this year as a completely built unit and may consider making it here."
According to Arvind Saxena, director (sales and marketing), the new model will not eat into the sales of Tucson, its SUV already in the market.
Hyundai is in the process of developing a small car and it would be launched next year, he added.
This year, Hyundai will be increasing its dealer network to 320 from the present 289 dealerships.
For the current year, the company is targetting sale of 525,000 units of which 50 percent will be shipped out.
According to Saxena, the company will be adding more overseas markets this year.

This is great when you plan and expand your team espically sales team means you will difinately grabing business. Hyundai is a very good brand with satisfied customers around world. But in Pakistan local partner is very weak and i suggest Hyundai to chose new partner, pakistan is also a growing car market and Hyundai has a good scope in small cars.
