Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. posted a record 20 percent growth in March by selling 31,698 vehicles compared to 26,360 units same month a year ago, the automaker said on Thursday.

The company also registered a whopping 281 percent export growth, shipping 1,754 units as against 461 in March last year.

Utility vehicles, including Scorpio, Xylo, Bolero and pick-ups accounted for 20,914 units as against 19,973 year ago.

The year-to-date sales stood at 298,280 units for the just-concluded fiscal (2009-10) as against 230,326 units in fiscal 2008-09, registering 30 percent annual growth.

Tractor sales shot up by 54 percent to 16,164 units in March compared to 10,466 same month last year, enabling the company to maintain leadership position in the tractor industry.

Year-to-date domestic sales in the tractor segment increased by 47 percent to 165,633 units as against 112,695 units in the same period of the previous fiscal (2008-09).
