Himachal Pradesh Wednesday cleared six industrial proposals inviting an investment of Rs.650.49 crore, an official said here.

"Six industrial proposals worth Rs.650.49 crore were cleared by the cabinet. The projects will provide employment to 1,581 people in the state," Industries Commissioner Manoj Kumar said.

He said among the proposals cleared were those by Jai Durga Paper Mills, Jain Irrigation Systems Limited and Bahra Creative Infrastructure Private Limited.

"Jain Irrigation Systems Limited is setting up two facilities in the state - one in Kala Amb (in Sirmaur district) and the second in Hamirpur. The company is manufacturing drip irrigation and sprinkler systems," he said.

"Both the units will invite an investment of Rs.100 crore," the official said.

Jai Durga Paper Mills would set up its unit near Nalagarh in Solan district with an outlay of Rs.277.24 crore, he said.

To expand the tourism potential in the state, the government allowed Bahra Creative Infrastructure Private Limited to set up a tourist resort-cum-health farm near Kandaghat on the Kalka-Shimla national highway at a cost of Rs.63.13 crore.

Kumar said the Bahra group is already running a spa in Mashobra near Shimla.

Since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in the state in December 2007, as many as 3,156 industrial proposals worth Rs.12,585.61 crore have been cleared.
