China's power generation capacity will surpass 900 million kw by the end of 2010, an official said Friday.
China's power capacity has risen quickly in recent years, with the installed hydro-power capacity increasing to 197 million kw from 117 million kw at the beginning of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), said Zhang Guobao, head of China's National Energy Administration.
Official figures reveal that combined installed electricity generation capacity in China stood at 874 million kw last year, up 10.23 percent from a year ago, Xinhua reported.
Thermal power generation capacity accounted for 74.6 percent of the total production of 652 million kw last year.
