Emerging technologies, including Generative AI (GenAI) and quantum computing, are projected to generate over one million jobs in India by 2030, as reported on Wednesday.

During the July-September period (Q2 FY25), Global Capability Centres (GCCs) have become the driving force behind technology recruitment in India, fueled by a strong demand for expertise in areas such as AI/ML, analytics, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and DevOps, according to a report by Quess Corp, a leading business solutions provider in India.

In Q2 FY25, development skills accounted for 41 percent of the tech hiring demand, while positions in AI/ML experienced a 30 percent increase in demand compared to the previous quarter. "The proliferation of GCCs is fostering a dynamic ecosystem for reskilling and upskilling, which is essential for India's technological advancement," stated Kapil Joshi, CEO of Quess IT Staffing.

"Emerging technologies like generative AI, deep-tech, and quantum computing are anticipated to create over a million jobs by 2030. Despite existing challenges, India's IT sector is well-positioned for growth of 10-12 percent in the upcoming six months," he added.

The report indicates that 79 percent of the overall demand is concentrated in the top five skill areas: development, ERP, testing, networking, and data science. Additionally, there has been a notable rise in specialized roles and skills, with Java increasing by 30 percent, cybersecurity by 20 percent, and DevOps by 25 percent between Q1 FY25 and Q2 FY25.

The manufacturing sector is undergoing a significant transformation, with heightened demand for products across various industries, including semiconductors, electronics, and electrical sectors.

Bengaluru leads in tech hiring, capturing 43.5 percent of the market, followed by Hyderabad at 13.4 percent and Pune at 10 percent. "India's technology landscape is thriving, with Bengaluru firmly established as the leader. An impressive 62 percent of hiring requests originate from this region, with the West contributing 14 percent, the North 8 percent, and the East a mere 0.4 percent," the report concluded.
