The 7th edition of Indian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Show (IFJAS 2014), organized by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), generated serious business Inquiries worth Rs 147 crore during its three-day exposition which came to a close on Sunday at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida, said Lekhraj Maheshwari, Chairman - EPCH.

The show which was conceptualized by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts has reached its 7th year in a row.

EPCH had conceived a unique strategy few years ago to adopt an aggressive approach to promote segmented products. Amongst other measures, one of the important elements of strategy was to organize product specific fairs so as to cater to the product specific requirement of the Importing Nations. Fashion jewellery and accessories, being a potential product group in exports, was one of the steps for organizing fairs under this strategy beside furniture, home furnishing and houseware etc.

Around 587 overseas buyers, representing world famous major buying houses and retail chains, visited the fair to source their requirements from a diverse range of products under one-roof showcased by over 170 Indian exporters and manufacturers from various parts of India said Lekhraj.

This event is one of its kind of international shows dedicated entirely to the jewellery and accessories industry in Asian Continent.

The three-day B2B event focusing only export market witnessed fashion previews on jewellery & accessories. "Two seminars on Advantage of digital printing-Trends and Forecasts" and "Get Online with Amazon India and Grow Profitability" were held on 19th July, 2014 at the fair venue for the benefit of participant exhibiting at IFJAS 2014.

The IFJAS 2014 had around 170 exhibitors and their product range included fashion jewellery, semi precious fashion jewellery, fashion accessories, hand bags, purses, fancy shoes, stoles, shawls and embroidered fashion accessories etc. The intricacies and exquisiteness of the Indian traditional as well as contemporary fashion jewellery have created a niche in the world markets and have tremendous potential for exports.

Overseas buyers evinced keen interest in India's design elements anchored on trends interpreting various inspirations and tendencies and use of an assortment of material. Buyers from across the globe with major traffic from 37 countries such as South Africa, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, Russia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, UK, Croatia, Cyprus, Portugal, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Israel, Jordan, UAE, Morocco, Slovenia and USA visited the show to source their requirements said Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director –Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts.

Ajay Shankar Memorial Awards–Gold, Silver and Bronze were also given to the five deserving exhibitors in two different categories for Jewellery & Accessories for best stall design, best product display and overall display from the design and product point of view.

The exports of Fashion Jewellery & Accessories is a part of Indian Handicrafts and has shown a significant growth in the recent years.

The exports of fashion jewellery and accessories has touched Rs. 2860.14 crore in the year 2013-14 against Rs. 2029.47 crore in the year 2012-13. The total exports of all handicrafts during 2013-14 was USD 3884.91 million.

"The export target for 2014-15 has been fixed at USD 4468 millions," said Rakesh Kumar – ED – EPCH.
