Decline in exports alarming, relief must from Budget: FIEO
|
|
SME Times News Bureau | 02 Jul, 2009
Reacting to the trade data for the month of May, A. Sakthivel, President, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) observed that the continuous decline in exports in last eight months is alarming, though much of it is due to global contraction in demand.
Sakthivel said that he is looking to the Union Budget with much hope to provide competitiveness and relief to the Indian export sector.
The president of FIEO expressed his apprehension on increase in job losses, if the decline is not arrested immediately with positive intervention by the Government.
He added that if Government provides necessary support, export may show positive growth from October this year, though double digit growth could only be seen in 2010.
