The first ever mega event Textiles India 2017 is being held at Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 30th June to 2nd July, 2017. Member exporters of many Export Promotion Councils have been displaying their best products to the overseas buying community.

Apart from B2B exhibition the Textiles India 2017 also had round table discussions, conferences, fashion shows, state sessions and country session alongwith signing of MOUs.

Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH said that on 2nd day of Textiles India 2017, EPCH has signed five MOUs for the benefits of handicrafts exporting community.

For creating testing facilities for the handicrafts sector and providing product testing services to the handicrafts exporters, EPCH signed an MOU with TUV Rheinland India Pvt. Ltd. Who are prominent service provider in Technical, Inspection and Certification Industry.

A MOU was signed with The Himachal Pradesh State Handicrafts & Handloom Corpn Ltd to enhance the volume of handicrafts exports from the state of Himachal Pradesh by providing handholding assistance to the handicrafts entrepreneurs, establishing channel with buyers and to provide step by step assistance to exporters in export procedure, documentation and marketing etc.

Another MOU was signed with Shriram Institute Technology Business Incubator, a leading research institute for knowledge sharing, training and research for improving skills and scope of handicrafts.

A tripartite MOU was signed in between CCIC, EPCH and Department of Posts, Government of India to develop and market different philately based products and EPCH and CCIC shall be providing adequate space in different National and International fairs under their ambit.

The fifth MOU was signed between EPCH and Vietnam Association of Craft Village (VICRAFTS), Vietnam working towards enabling artisans to exceed global quality standards, to develop handicrafts sector in both countries and to enhance ties between two countries in the field of handicrafts.

Kumar further said that objective of signing these MOUs during mega Textiles India 2017 is to promote and develop Handicrafts sector and thereby helping artisans, craftspersons and exporters to increase their capabilities in the field of skills, usage of technology to remain competitive in the world market.
