Automobile manufacturer Datsun on Thursday unveiled its
third model -- Datsun redi-GO urban-cross.
"Datsun's growth strategy in India will continue to reflect our commitment
to local engineering, development and manufacturing," said Guillaume
Sicard, president, Nissan India Operations, in a statement.
"It (Datsun redi-GO) is created to bring fun, free and confident thinking
to the otherwise traditional compact hatchback segment."
This is the company's third offering in the country. The automobile company
entered the Indian automobile market two years ago.
According to the company, Datsun redi-GO, the first urban-cross in the Indian
market, provides the best features of a crossover and the major attributes of
an urban hatchback.
The company added that Datsun redi-GO is based on a common module family
(CMF-A) platform from the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
The urban-cross is powered by an all-new 0.8 litre three-cylinder engine
in-sync with a five-speed manual transmission.
