Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said a new Export Policy 2017 would be announced soon to further boost exports from the coastal state.

"The current Export Policy is under revision and the new Odisha Export Policy 2017 will soon be unveiled," the Chief Minister said while inaugurating a workshop on 'Export Strategy of Odisha' here.

Besides, he said, the state government was in the process of organising all export-related organisations under one roof to ensure ease of doing business for exporters.

He said these steps would go a long way in increasing exports from Odisha.

The Chief Minister said because of his government's proactive steps, the state had registered a significant growth in exports, from merely Rs 5,063 crore in 2001-02 to Rs 19,082 crore in 2015-16.

"Due to collective efforts of our exporters, the value of exports between 2015-16 and 2016-17 registered a phenomenal growth of 114 per cent from Rs 19,082 crore to Rs 40,872 crore," Patnaik said.
