Deputy Chief Minister, Government Telangana, S K Srihari on Monday announced that newly carved out state will also organize an International Crafts & Culture Mela on lines of Surajkund International Crafts Mela from 2016 itself.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 30th Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Faridabad on Monday, said, "the Telangana tourism which was the Theme State in 2016 Surajkund Mela has already mapped the organizing abilities, skills and expertise of Surajkund Mela Authority and shortly a decision is likely with due endorsement of Telangana Chief Minister to organize similar fair in the State which is known for its crafts, culture and tourism spots worldwide."

"Telangana which was the theme state for 2016 Surajkund International Crafts Mela and presented to it its vast cultural and craft diversity in the last 15 days beginning from February 1st was deeply inspired the way the mela is organized and which as popularize the State of Haryana worldwide would take pride in organizing similar fair in the State so that the youngest and 29th state of the Indian Republic also earn similar acclaim and brand it wherever possible," said Srihari.

Speaking on the occasion, the Tourism Minister of Haryana, Ram Bilas Sharma said that in 2016 Mela, 23 foreign countries also participated representing their cultural and crafts diversity which was very well received by all those that visited the Mela for 15 days rough estimates for which has exceeded the number of 15 lakh.

He also disclosed that through this year's mela, the Government of Haryana also promoted the dream project of Prime Minister Modi viz. 'Beti Bachao Beti Parao' ever since it was launched in Haryana over a year ago. This has resulted in increasing the girls sex ratio over boys in Haryana.

It may be pointed out here that the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry was engaged by the Government of Telangana to brand and lend it necessary logistics support to the State in the 30th Surajkund International Crafts Mela and it is in this capacity that the Chamber becomes one of the participants in the Mela.

During the occasion, a research report prepared by the PHD Chamber on investment opportunities in Telangana was also launched in the by the Governor of Haryana, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki in the presence of its Tourism Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma; Deputy Chief Minister, Telangana K S Srihari its Tourism Secretary, B Venkatesham; Secretary General, PHD Chamber, Saurabh Sanyal and its Director (States), Debjit Talapatra among many others.
