Municipal Corporation of Delhi's commissioner K.S. Mehra Thursday said there were no bogus employees in the civic authority and said the reports that there were fake 45,000 workers in the corporation were untrue.

He said as per records, only 567 employees had not registered in the biometric attendance systems of the MCD.

Mehra told the weekly standing committee meeting that there are 129,615 sanctioned posts in the MCD of which 22,000 employees of education department are not included in the ongoing process of registration for the biometric attendance system.

"Around 2,500 MCD officials at the Town Hall headquarter and the Commissioner's office at Ambedkar Stadium are already using the biometric system of attendance since August 1, 2008 - only 567 employees have not filled the registration forms for the biometric system of attendance," Mehra said.

"Exact number of missing employees will be know by July 15 when the process will be completed," he added.

Meanwhile, leader of the house of the civic authority, Subhas Arya said the break up clearly shows that "there is no such big number of ghost employees as projected by the media."
