The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and France have pledged to enhance cooperation in the trade sector, which grew by 25 percent to more than $4 billion in 2008, WAM news agency reported.

UAE Foreign Trade Minister Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi and her French counterpart Anne-Marie Idrac met here Thursday to discuss ways to improve trade relations.

Idrac said France was willing to tap all opportunities on offer in the UAE.

More than 115 French firms were registered in the UAE in addition to 257 trade agencies and 4,419 trademarks, according to the report.
