Rahul Mishra, CEO of U-RYD Transport Solutions Pvt. Ltd. believes that the biggest challenge for a start-up entrepreneur is taking the initial decision of entering into a particular market, where renowned firms are already doing well.
In an interview to SME Times, he said, "Entering into new market is the initial and biggest challenge. Once we were clear with the inside stories and process of work we were clear with the intention to strategize."
Speaking about the government's start-up India movement, he said, "The current Government is supporting in probably the best so far manner for the Start-Ups in the Country. The various initiatives and Tax conversions would certainly make a valuable contribution towards the easy running of the Start-Ups and would be able to contribute more towards the growing economy of India."
Excerpts from the interview...
Please tell something about your group U-RYD.
Rahul Mishra: U-Ryd is an American based company which is a mobile application to book cab service. It's a leading super aggregator of car rentals and point to point car services. The brand has been running its services in US for more than 15 years successfully.
U-Ryd mainly aims to become a most preferred solution for the transportation facilities for users.
U-RYD is officially an American Company, a transport service provider which has launched its services in the developing Indian market. What is the concept behind the plan?
Rahul Mishra: The concept is quite simple we focus to enter the transportation industry in India too. As other cab service applications have been here for quite few years and doing great jobs but somewhere the drivers are failing to understand the original concept. For example the slabs given to drivers vary respectively and hence they never have a clear understanding about their daily earning.
And U-Ryd has come up with a very simple concept of drive and earn. Some percentage would be taken by us and no confusion with slab order. So U-Ryd is clear with the concept to enter the market with simple strategy which is making no fool out of drivers or consumers.
How it works?
Rahul Mishra: U-Ryd has a simple format to work. As a driver/User one needs to download the app and register with us by filling in the details mentioned in the Application. The Application for the drivers and users may be downloaded on the following links:
a. User App: http://bit.ly/U-Ryd
b. Driver App: http://bit.ly/U-RydPartner
c. Drivers can upload their Documents on: http://u-ryd.com/in/provider/signup
Drivers can also give a missed call at +91-9718788880 to get the download link through SMS.
You are competing with well established brands like OLA and Uber. How you see the market of online cab facilities in India?
Rahul Mishra: The market is huge. And that itself creates a great scope to experiment. May be we flourish or we fall either ways but online cab service has a strength to experiment. Lots of other companies are already well established. But the internal side of the story has been unexplored like the slab system which creates chaos and confusion amongst the drivers.
What is the present structure of the company?
Rahul Mishra: The company is headed by Mr. Rahul Mishra β The CEO of U-Ryd and is further being managed by Mr. Ankur Srivastava β The Operation Head. Under them there are departments like Operations, Marketing, Technical and Support. And the most important one is the Security Department. The team is operational already and is being headed by the above duos mainly.
The company is based out of Uttar Pradesh, so what is your service area or you provide the cab services in Delhi/NCR only?
Currently βyesβ since the market is huge and the IT and Infra connectivity is better, we are initially starting the services in Delhi/NCR. However, we already have got great Tie-Ups in Other urban cities and hence would be launching the services there soon after the launch in Delhi/NCR.
Being a start-up what were the challenges you had gone through?
Rahul Mishra: Being a start up, there is always a hell of a ride to be gone through. We faced the initial and biggest challenge to enter the market as renowned firms are well established. Once we were clear with the inside stories and process of work we were clear with the intention to strategize.
After that we connected directly to the audience like users of such app and drivers associated with such apps. With them we understood the problems faced by the drivers. Hence, it gave us the clarity to define the module.
How you see the government's start-up India movement?
Rahul Mishra: The current Government is supporting in probably the best so far manner for the Start-Ups in the Country. The various initiatives and Tax conversions would certainly make a valuable contribution towards the easy running of the Start-Ups and would be able to contribute more towards the growing economy of India.
What are your future plans?
Rahul Mishra: Future has a lot to offer in terms of business in India and abroad and we are aiming to generate some share out of it for us. As already mentioned we are generating tie-ups in urban cities in India and abroad as well. We are certainly aiming to be working as a multi-location based operations organization with a clear sense of business to the people associated with us. We hope that God keeps his kind hand on us and all.
